Over the weekend I completed my course in Non-Violent Communication in multicultural groups, run by the amazing Anat Asia and Nadia Giol, founders of Insun. They have been facilitating NVC together for more than ten years. I met Anat a few years ago at a Jewish-Palestinian women's NVC retreat in what was then Eco-Me. Since then, our paths have crossed in many interesting settings around peace, healing, women, and more. I love Anat, with her incredible litany of gifts in art, music, chi kong, healing, and building compassionate connections.
I met Nadia for the first time last year when I had the privilege to interview Anat and Nadia, along with my cohost Eva Dalak, on my podcast Women Ending War. It was a great episode, one of my favorites. We talked about NVC, education, shared society, and hopes for peace.
So you can imagine that I was thrilled to have the opportunity to take a certification course with them and deepen my work with NVC. I met many wonderful people, build meaningful relationships, and honed vital skills for having the hard conversations. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity.
Among other benefits, I met the amazing Nirit Oren Shternberg on the course as well. She is a longtime peace activist and overall brilliant, witty, determined fighter for an end to this war. I also had the privilege of interviewing Nirit on the podcast. Nirit is such an inspiration.
So, this was the end of a course but really just the beginning of the next chapter. How will I incorporate NVC into my work and activities? We'll see...
